Commodore Rakesh Anand, (Retd)

Commodore Rakesh Anand is an Indian Navy veteran. In the Navy he has served on various capital ships, Naval Dockyards Visakhapatnam and Bombay in various capacities, officer in charge Fleet Maintenance Unit (FMU) Mumbai, Directorate of Marine Engineering, Technical Assistant to two COMs, Directorate of Naval Design (Submarine Design Group) (DND(SDG)) and the Directorate of Indigenisation (DOI).
The officer took premature retirement from the Navy and joined Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL ) in the capacity of GM (Planning and Design) of the prestigious Scorpene Submarine programme . He subsequently took over as the Director Corporate Planning and Personnel (DCP&P) for a period of four years during which period he undertook the major modernization of the shipyard worth about Rs 800 crores.
Commodore Rakesh Anand (Retd) took over as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) MDL wef Jan 17 and superannuated In Nov 19. During this period he was responsible for launching of three Scorpene submarines and three Destroyers/Stealth Frigates. He also delivered two Submarines, Kalvari and Khanderi to the Indian Navy. He joined the Group as CEO of OSK India Pvt Ltd on 01 Dec 2020.
His education qualifications include a BE(Mech) from Thapar Institute Patiala, MTech (Material Sc) from IIT (Bom), Masters in Management Studies (MMS) from Osmania University/ Long Defence Management Course and a Diploma in Marine Hydraulics from erstwhile USSR.
