Capt Ravi Muthusamy, IN (Retd), brings over four decades of distinguished service in marine engineering, naval operations, and shipyard leadership. His career spans strategic roles in the Indian Navy and Hindustan Shipyard Ltd (HSL), where he consistently delivered results in complex, high-value projects. At the Ship Building Centre, he made significant contributions to India’s first strategic building program, overseeing critical phases of construction, testing, and commissioning of advanced propulsion systems. His technical acumen and systems approach were instrumental in aligning engineering execution with national defense objectives. During his tenure as Chief General Manager at HSL, he played a central role in a ₹950 crore submarine repair initiative, one of the largest undertaken by the shipyard. His leadership helped achieve the highest revenue in HSL’s history, while streamlining vendor negotiations, improving HR systems, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Earlier, as Chief Engineer aboard INS TIR, he maintained zero downtime through proactive maintenance planning and resource optimization, setting operational benchmarks in fleet readiness. Capt Ravi holds a BE (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, a postgraduate qualification in Nuclear Technology from BARC, and diplomas in Finance and Personnel Management. He is fluent in English, Hindi, and Tamil. His expertise lies in strategic planning, defense procurement, vendor management, and institutional reform. Known for his analytical rigor and leadership clarity, he continues to advise on maritime infrastructure, operational efficiency, and governance transformation.
