Major General Amit Loomba (Retired), Head of Land Systems, is an Armoured Corps Officer, and served for nearly 36 years in the Indian Army. He tenanted numerous Command, Staff, Logistics and Instructional Appointments during his illustrious career. He commanded an Armoured Regiment in Punjab and J&K, a T-90 Armoured Brigade in the Desert Sector and an Infantry Division along the borders in Punjab. He represented Indian Army in a Multi-national United Nations Mission in DR Congo, Africa. General Loomba has been an Instructor in the prestigious Tri-services Defence Services Staff College and Senior Instructor at the Army War College. He has also handled the Human Resource Management Policies at Army Headquarters. He closely interacted with large Corporate Houses, for Corporate Social Responsibility Projects, for the Indian Army. He handled all the procurement projects of Armoured Corps, while posted at the Directorate General of Mechanised Forces, from Dec 2016 to June 2019, wherein major projects like FRCV, Arjun Mark IA Tanks, Ammunition, Thermal Imaging Fire Control Systems, Auxiliary Power Unit, Active Protection System, Commanders TI Sights, Anti Thermal / Anti Laser Grenade Dischargers, Explosive Reactive Armour etc were progressed successfully. Contract for Manufacture of 464 New T-90 Bhishma Tanks was initiated by him and his Team, which is presently under execution. He was intricately involved in the formulation of General Staff Qualitative Requirements (GSQR) for Light Tanks. He Chaired numerous Seminars on Technology, and has been on Multiple Price Negotiation Committees. The Officer is Pragmatic, Mature and Professionally Competent. He keeps himself abreast of the latest technologies in Tanks, Ammunition, Procurement processes and Military Activities at the World Stage. He was commended four times (for gallantry and distinguished service). He has been leading the Land Forces division since June, 2023.
